I am so excited to begin my 17th year teaching! I have taught grades 5-8. This year I will be teaching 8th grade general science and 8th grade honors science. I love teaching middle schoolers - they are so much fun!
I have a Masters degree in Science Curriculum & Instruction. I enjoy teaching science because I love the hands-on learning and critical thinking that science promotes. I use a variety of research-based classroom techniques that promote 21st Century skills - including technology integration, project-based learning (PBL), and inquiry learning. Students don't just learn science facts - they learn to *think* like scientists, because they ARE scientists. |
When I'm not teaching, I love to read and relax with Sadie, my adorable (and spoiled!) dachshund. I also love to travel, especially to places where I can explore nature. I'm a certified scuba diver, and I spend as much time underwater as I can. Sea turtles are the best! As they say in Costa Rica: Pura Vida! |
I am originally from Texas, where I taught elementary and middle school science in the Dallas area. I then moved to Costa Rica, where I taught middle school science for six years. In 2019 I moved to Arizona and began teaching at Highland Junior High School. Last year I transferred to Global Academy, and this year I'm very happy to be back at HJHS. |
